Edger Benitez was born on 8 November 1987 in Repatriation, Caaguazu, Paraguay. His star sign is Scorpio. Talking about his nationality, he holds the citizenship of both Paraguay and Mexico.
Benitez started his career as a youth in Club 12 de Octubre of Itaugua before moving to Libertad in 2005. He won the Paraguayan 1st division tournament though was mostly used as a substitute where he appeared in 32 games and scored 2 goals. In 2008, he was signed by Sol de America and shortly established himself in the club being the team's top goalscorer.
He further decided to play in the Mexican League for Pachuca CF and made his dream debut with Club the on 2nd January 2009 in the Interliga scoring his first goal for the club in the 4–0 win over Tecos UAG. He ended the tournament being the top goalscorer with 4 goals in 4 games helping him obtain a spot in the qualifying round for the Copa Libertadores 2009.
In 2018, he signed to Libertad and played 8 matches for the club.
Benitez made his international debut in 2010 after he was called by his national side. He made a debut with his national team against Peru in the 2010 World Cup qualification match scoring a winning goal.
