Gadsden City High School To Tulane to NFL

Darnell Mooney enrolled at the Gadsden City High School where he played both football and basketball for the Gadsden City Titans. Upon graduation, he attended Tulane University. There he played for the college football team.

Both on his junior and senior, he led the Gren Wave in receiving. He caught 48 passes each year, totaling 993 yards in 2018 and 713 yards in 2019.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, Mooney was picked by the Chicago Bears with the 173rd pick in the fifth round. On 21st July, he signed a four-year rookie contract with the team. He made his NFL debut in a 27–23 win against the Detroit Lions where he caught 3  passes from Mitchell Trubisky for 38 yards. The following week, he scored his first touchdown when he caught a 15-yard pass against the New York Giants.

In Week 15, he caught 4 passes and a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings. He had the best game of that season in Week 17 against the rival Packers, where catch 11 passes for 93 yards.
