During his sole season with Duke, Whitehead maintained averages of 8.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. His shooting percentages were notable, with 40.8% from the field, 41.1% from the three-point line, and 88.5% from the free-throw line.

In addition, he played an instrumental role in helping the Blue Devils advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, ultimately falling to Gonzaga.
