Ruiz joined Sporting CP signing a 3-year contract signed on July 7, 2015, while his former team Fulham was paid the transfer fee of $1.78 million. Well, his 3-year deal with the current club also included Ruiz's buy-out clause of a whopping £43 million. The contract will expire at the end of 2018 season, though no news of his new contract is out yet.

Commencing his professional career with Liga Deportiva Alajuelense on November 30, 2003, Bryan Ruiz played for the club for 3 seasons before being signed by KAA Gent in the summer of 2006 on a free transfer. 

Though Ruiz signed a million dollars contract with Gent in a four-year deal, he waved off the club in 2009. On July 15, 2009, Bryan Ruiz joined Dutch club FC Twente on a 4-year deal on $6.95 million fees but played for 2 seasons till 2011.

Bryan Ruiz made his move on a multi-year deal to the Premier League club Fulham on August 31, 2011, reporting a transfer fee of $13.35 million. He became the highest paid athlete in Costa Rica as of 2011 with his annual salary of $1.72 million in the club.

While in contract with Fulham, Ruiz also played on a loan transfer for PSV Eindhoven from January 15, 2014, to June 30, that year. The loan fee was reported to be £900,000. Then at the beginning of 2015 season, Ruiz signed with Sporting CP.
