Youth Career

At the beginning of his career, Benteke joined the youth team of JS Pierreuse in 1996 and left the club in 2004. He then joined the "Standard Liege," where he played from 2004-2006. He also spent a year with the youth team of Genk.

Senior Career

Benteke began his professional career with the "Genk" after being promoted from the youth club. For the club, he has scored 1 goal in 10 appearances until 2009. Benteke has then signed a two-year contract with his former club, “Standard Liege,” with a transfer fee of €150 thousand. He is a member of the team that won the "Belgian First Division" (2008-2009).

Loan Season

Christian Benteke was sent on loan to Kortrijk for the 2009-2010 season on August 7, 2009, where he scored 14 goals in 34 appearances. He returned to his club after completing the loan contract on June 30, 2010. He then loaned to Mechelen on August 31, 2010, for the 2010-2011 season. He scored six goals in 18 matches for the team before ending the loan contract.


Benteke rejoined his ex-club, Genk, with the transfer fee of €1.00 million in 2011. During his career in Genk, he scored 19 goals in 37 appearances until 2012.

Aston Villa

Christian Benteke signed a four-year contract with Aston Villa with a transfer fee of €8.80 million on August 31, 2012. He spent three seasons with the club (2012-2015), scoring 42 goals in 89 matches.

During the 2014-2015 season, Benteke received a red card by Neil Swarbrick for attempting a foul against Tottenham Hotspur’s player Ryan Mason.


Benteke joined the English football club “Liverpool” on July 22, 2015, with a transfer fee of €46.50 million and his first match came on August 2 against Swindon Town F.C. Later, he scored his first goal against Bournemouth. He scored nine goals in 29 games until 2016.

Benteke then completed his four-year contract with "Crystal Palace" with the transfer fee of €31.20 million, one of the biggest transfer fees of his career. Benteke represented Belgium internationally, earning his first cap with the senior team on May 18, 2010, against Bulgaria, in a friendly match. Later, his first goal came against the Netherlands, and he became a starter for Belgium national team.
