Brett Johns was born on 21 February 1992 in Swansea, Wales. He is of Wales nationality and started to train judo at the tender age of four which was owned by his father.
While training extensively in judo, he also started training in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu when his father advised him to take when he was only 16 years of age.
After getting trained in jiu-jitsu under Chris Rees, he decided to take up MMA as his career.
Brett Johns started his professional career in 2012 and competed for MMA promotion such as Cage Warriors Fighting Championship and Titan Fighting Championships where he became their promotion's Bantamweight Champion.
He is currently signed to American MMA promotion, Ultimate Fighting Championship which he debuted in 2016.

Brett made his official debut for UFC at the UFC event, UFC Fight Night 99 against Kwan Ho Kwak and won the bout through a unanimous decision.
He, later on, expected to take on Mitch Gagnon at UFC Fight Night 113 on 16 July 2017. However, he was omitted from the event and instead was replaced by Albert Morales.
Brett won the bout via a unanimous decision. Later, he faced off against Joe Soto in the event, The Ultimate Fighter Finale 26 and was victorious with a submission from a calf slicer, which was used for only the second time in UFC history.
