Football Career (Club & International)

Gilmour enrolled at Stanley Primary School in Ardrossan and Grange Academy in Kilmarnock, a member of the Scottish Football Association Performance School program.  

An academy product of Rangers Football Club (2009-2017), Gilmour joined the Chelsea youth system in 2017 following his 16th birthday. On 10th July 2019, he was called for his senior debut in a pre-season friendly against Bohemians in Dublin. In the 2019 UEFA Super Cup against Liverpool, he made his first competitive appearance but was an unused substitute.

On 31st August 2019, he made his Premier League debut against Sheffield United, coming on in the 84th minute for Tammy Abraham. He made his full debut on 25 September, playing the full 90 minutes in a 7–1 EFL Cup win against Grimsby Town.

By February 2020, he was added to the Chelsea first-team squad permanently. Due to the lockdown caused by COVID-19 and a knee injury, he did not appear much for the next six months.

At the international level, Gilmour has represented Scotland U15 (2015-2016), U16 (2016-2017), U17 (2017-2018), U19 (2017-2019), and U21 (2018-). On 2nd June 2021, he made his senior debut for the Scottish national team friendly against the Netherlands, coming off the bench in the 81st minute.
