Alfred Finnbogason’s  Career

After playing for the youth team of Breidablik, he signed with the main team in 2007 and made his debut for the club in 2008. He was later sent on a loan to Augnablik in 2007.

He was a  prolific goalscorer for the club and won many accolades for his performances like Iceland Premier League Player of the Year in 2010 and winning the silver boot in the league in 2010.

After his successful stint with the Breidablik where he was also part of the team that lifted the Icelandic Cup in 2009, he signed a two and a half year contract deal with Belgian football club, Lokeren in November 2010.

He was also transferred by Lokeren to Swedish club, Helsingborgs IF on a six-month contract deal in 2012.

Alfred then signed a three-year contract with Dutch club, Heerenveen in August 2012 and scored two goals in his debut match for the Dutch side against Ajax.

He was the highest goalscorer in the Eredivisie in 2013/14 season and after a memorable time with Heerenveen team, he signed with the Spanish club, Real Sociedad in the summer of 2014 for a reported transfer fee of €7.5 million with an add-on the fee that could to rise to  €10 million.

The Icelandic striker was transferred to Greek football club, Olympiacos on loan and scored his first goal for the Greek side against Besiktas on August 9, 2015.

He also scored a match-winning goal against Arsenal in the Champions League match in September 2015.

Currently, he is playing for FC Augsburg. He was loaned in February 2016 but was made a permanent player after his impressive goal-scoring abilities that he displayed for the club.

Alfred Finnbogason’s  International Career

After representing Iceland at U-21 team, he made his senior debut for Iceland against the Faroe Islands in 2010 and scored his first international goal against Israel in a friendly match on 17 November 2010.

He, along with Kari Arnason, Runar Mar Sigurjonsson, and Birkir Bjarnason, was the part of the Iceland team that took Iceland to the quarterfinals rounds of UEFA Euro 2016 and is listed as a probable player in 2018 FIFA World Cup squad for Iceland in Russia.

Alfred Finnbogason’s Personal Life

The Icelandic forward has a height of 6 feet 1 inches and weighs about 80 kg. He is happily married to his wife Frida and is blessed with a child, a daughter. The couple is together since 2015.

Their daughter was born in March 2017. Finnbogason is a devoted family man and takes good care of them.

His wife is also a former Icelandic player but has not mentioned about the kind of sports she is professional in. Frida has shared several photos of the couple and their child on Instagram.
