Adnan Januzaj is a Belgian professional football player who plays as a winger for the Spanish football club, Real Sociedad. Besides playing for the Spanish club, he has also played for clubs such as Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, and Sunderland.

He made his international debut for Belgium in 2014. He has also been listed in the 23-man squad of Belgium for the FIFA World Cup 2018.

Adnan Januzaj was born to father, Abedin Januzaj on February 5, 1995. He was born in Brussels, Belgium to father of Albanian ethnicity. His mother Ganimete Sadikaj is from Kosovo. His grandfather was a Turkish while his grandmother was a Serbian.

He was interested in playing football since his early childhood and played at the youth clubs of  FC Brussels, Anderlecht and Manchester United. His childhood idol was Lorik Cana, an Albanian player.

Adnan Januzaj‘s Club Football Career

After playing for the youth team of Manchester United, he played for the senior team in 2013 and made his official debut against  Wigan Athletic coming on for Dutch player  Robin van Persie on 11 August 2013.

Januzaj made his premier league debut as a substitute for Ashley Young against  Crystal Palace on 14 September 2013. He was the part of Manchester United team that went on to win the FA Community Shield in 2013. He was later loaned to German Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund for 2015/16 and was again loaned to English football club, Sunderland in 2016/17.

The Belgian attacking midfielder made his debut for Sunderland against Manchester City and scored his first goal for the club against Shrewsbury Town. Januzaj received several call-ups from Belgium as he was eligible to play for Belgium (birth country), Albania (father), Kosovo (mother), Turkey (grandfather), Serbia (grandmother), and also Croatia.

He accepted the offer in April 2014 and his name was included in the Belgium 23 man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He later made his official international debut for a senior national team of Belgium against Tunisia by replacing fellow Belgian striker Eden Hazard on 7 June 2014.

As of May 2018, he is named in Belgium’s  23 men preliminary squad for Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Since making his full international debut for Belgium back in 2014, he has played for Belgium in six matches and is yet to score an international goal.
