"Gimme him" Shows Christian McCaffrey would add explosiveness and versatility to Patriots American Football

“Gimme him”,  a weekly series where we consider which player on the Patriots’ opponent would want most. The New England Patriots are known to assign specific running backs for specific situations. As James White was used frequently on third down and in passing situations last season and Rex Burkhead busy covering short-yardage and goal-line situations.

With the start of 2018's preseason, it's very hard to allocate who exactly is inducted in the formations this year kept aside these two. As Sony Michel, the rookie and 2018 first-round pick dealing with a knee injury. The defensive style looks a little bit dangerous for Patriots. So, the best way to stay in the game is by adopting the offensive style and the opponent's player who would do the job just fine as per the show will be Christian McCaffrey.

This Friday night the Patriots are facing the Carolina Panthers and this week’s “Gimme him” player is Carolina’s return specialist, Christian McCaffrey a player explosive enough to keep the opponents guessing.

Last season, Christian McCaffrey in 2017,  covered 435 yards with the ball, rushed the ball 117 times for touchdowns and caught 80 passes for 651 yards and five touchdowns. Despite that, he only averaged 3.7 yards per carry which was ranked 38th in the league amongst running backs.

So, it looks like the player is still in the process of evolution but if if he really plays what he is expected by the football community, he would surely be a player that can change the game in seconds. Hence, McCaffrey is this week's "Gimme him player" for Patriots.
