Valentin Castellanos is an Argentine professional footballer who is signed to the Major League Soccer (MLS) club New York City FC. The striker previously played for Torque and Universidad de Chile.

Professional Career

Castellanos began his football career in the youth academy of Universidad de Chile. In 2017, he moved on loan to Torque where he helped the club win the Segunda Division title and secure promotion to Uruguay's top flight.

On 27th July 2018, he signed to the MLS side New York City FC on loan until the end of the 2018 season. During his first match with New York City FC, he started for the club and scored a goal against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Then New York City exercised its option to buy Castellanos ahead of the 2019 season on 29th November 2018.

In 2019, Castellanos helped New York City's attack, scoring 11 times and adding 7 assists in 30 matches to finish atop the Eastern Conference standings and quality for their first-ever CONCACAF Champions League.

In the 2021 season, Castellanos scored in each of New York City's first 4 matches, becoming only the fifth player in MLS history to do so. On 13th May 2021, he agreed on a deal with NYCFC that would keep him contracted with the club through 2025.

Internationally, Castellanos played for the Argentina national under-23 football.
