Early Life

Shkodran Mustafi was born on April 17, 1992, in Bad Hersfeld, Germany. He was born to his father, Kujtim Mustafi, and mother, Fatima Mustafi and grew up with his sibling, Adrian Mustafi. Regarding his ethnicity, he is white and holds a Germany nationality.

Early Career

Shkodran Mustafi began his football career joining youth team of 1. FV Bebra. He also played for youth teams of SV Rotenburg, Hamburger SV, and Everton.

Senior Career


Shkodran Mustafi was promoted to a senior team of Everton in 2009. He made his Europa League debut against Bate Borisov on December 16, 2009, but was benched in the Premier League games.


He was then transferred to Sampdoria in 2012 on a free transfer and made his debut against Varese in May 2012.

Similarly, Mustafi also made his debut in an Italian top flight in November 2012. He then scored his first goal over Atlanta at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. He scored 1 goal in 50 appearances with the club.


Mustafi signed a five-year contract with Valencia worth, £7.20 million and made his debut for the team against Cordoba in September 2014. Later, he left the club in 2016, after making 61 appearance and 6 goals for the team.


Mustafi was transferred to Arsenal in August 2016 with the transfer fee £36.90 million and made his official debut for the club against Southampton at the Premier League in September. He has so far scored 3 goals in 32 appearances.

International Career

After completing internationally in each junior level team from U-16 to U 21, Shkodran Mustafi was called up to the senior team and made his debut against Poland in May 2014. Along with his team, he has been honored with FIFA World Cup(2014), FIFA Confederation Cup(2017) and UEFA European Under -17 Football Championship(2009).

Mustafi could not make his place initially in the 23-man shortlist for the World Cup 2014 but surprisingly got the chance to replace injured Marco Reus. He mad his World Cup debut against Portugal in the opening match coming in for Mats Hummels in 73 minutes. He also started the match against Algeria but was later substituted by Sami Khedira.

Shkodran Mustafi married his girlfriend, Vjosa Kaba in July 2016 along with the attendance of about 350 guests at Hotel Izgrev in Gostivar, Macedonia. His wife is a model from Albania once voted the most beautiful woman in Switzerland. She previously worked as a real estate agent while she lived in Zurich.

The couple welcomed their first child daughter and often shares his snaps with his beautiful daughter on his official Instagram account. Mustafi practices Muslim.

Earlier, Kaba had an affair with an Albanian midfielder which did not last long.
