Senegal beat the host nation, Qatar, in the second-round match of Group A, 3:1 at the final whistle. With the second loss, Qatar is out of the World Cup race to the Round of 16. Qatar has become the first host nation to lose two matches in a single group round.
Senegal took the lead in the 41st minute from the goal of Boulaye Dia. Famara Diedhiou doubled the lead right after the start of the second half. Muntari scored the first goal for Qatar in the World Cup but was short-lived as Bamba Dieng scored the third goal in the 84th minute to take the scoreboard to 1:3.
Senegal had a total of thirteen shots and five shots on target while Qatar had pretty similar stats with three shots on target. Senegal will take on Ecuador on November 29 and will forward to booking a seat for the next round.
