Patrício Freire or famously known as  Patricio Pitbull is a Brazilian professional Mixed Martial artist fighter who is currently fighting for famous American MMA promotion, Bellator MMA in their Featherweight rank.

 

Considered one of the best Featherweight fighters of all time, he is also the current Featherweight champion of Bellator MMA.

Patricio Pitbull’s Early Career

Patricio Pitbull holds a Brazilan nationality. He was born to Brazilian parents on July 7, 1987, in Natal, Brazil. Patricio is also the younger brother of Patricky Freire who is also fighting for Bellator MMA in their lightweight ranks.

He started early in his life and trained in Brazilan jiu-jitsu and began training at the renowned Chute Box Academy with notable alumni such as MMA fighters, Wanderlei Silva and Mauricio Rua.

Patricio Pitbull’s Net worth and Salary

As his exact salary is not known. However, he must be earning a fair amount of money as he is currently a Featherweight champion of Bellator.

It was reported that he earned $ 50,000 in a bout against  Benson Henderson in Bellator 160.

Also, he earned $70, 000 which also includes $35,000 in bonus when he successfully defended his featherweight title against Daniel Stratus at Bellator 132.

Looking at his professional MMA career, he has a good amount of money. However, his net worth is still under review.

Patricio Pitbull’s  Career

Pitbull made his professional MMA debut in 2004 at the tender age of 16 and fought several MMA promotions of Brazil.

After compiling an impressive record, he signed with American famous MMA promotion, Bellator MMA and made his debut on April 22, 2010, during the  Featherweight Tournament.

Patricio went to win against Will Romero with a submission hold in the first round of the match.

He later took on Joe Warren at Bellator 23 and lost the match due to split but a controversial decision.

Patricio was scheduled to take on Rob Emerson at Bellator 97 but due to injury Emerson was not able to compete.

Instead, he faced off against Jared Downing and won through a knockout and later on defeated Pat Curran at Bellator 123 on September 5, 2014, via unanimous decision to win the Bellator Featherweight Championship.

He later lost the title to Daniel Straus at Bellator 145 on November 6, 2015, and lost the fight via unanimous decision.

Patricio later reclaimed the tile back from Daniel Straus and won through submission hold at Bellator 178 to win his second featherweight championship on April 21, 2017.

He was expected to face off against Daniel Weichel at Bellator 188 on November 16, 2017. But due to an injury suffered by Patricio, the match took place on July 14, 2018, which he won via decision.

Pitbull is expected to face Emmanuel Sanchez at Bellator 209.

Patricio Pitbull’s Personal Life

Currently, 30, he stands at a height of 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 66 Kg. He is currently married to his loving wife, Teresa Silva.

The couple is blessed with a son named David. The family of Patricio Pitbull looks happy and enjoying their life with no signs of turmoil.
