Mikhail Youzhny is a Russian professional tennis player. He was ranked in the top 10 world's best player by Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in August 2007. Whereas he was the no. 1 tennis player in Russia. He is the one player to reach the quarterfinals of all the grand slam. He won his first major title in  Mercedes Cup. But till now he hasn't won a singles title on grass.

Early life

Mikhail Youzhny was born on June 25, 1982, in Soviet Union, Russia. His parents are Mikhail Youzhny and Lubov Youzhnaya. His father was a Soviet army colonel and his mother was as a professional tennis player. He grew along with his brother Andrei Youzhny who is also a tennis player.

Youzhny's father sacrificed his whole life serving as an army to help his sons to be a tennis player. He completed his graduation from the University of Moscow in 2010.

Professional career

Youzhny played his first junior professional match in April 1995 at the 8th Sochi International Junior Tournament. But he was defeated by Andrei Stoliarov. In 1997, he played the Ozerov Cup and reached up to semi finals. Moreover, he also played the junior doubles. Well, he was able to win his first double along with Igor Kunitsyn in 1997.

Youzhny won his first junior single tournament in February 1998. In 2000, for the first time, he reached the final of ATP Challenger but was defeated with Julien Boutter. However, in May he won his first ATP Challenger title in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Furthermore, he also won the ATP tour-level match at the 2000 edition of the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships. During his games in Queen's Club Championships defeated future world number one Andy Roddick in straight sets.

In 2001 he participated in Australian Open, US Open, Wimbledon, and other tournaments but he didn't win even a single tournament.Roger Federer In 2002 he lost the match with Roger Federer in quarterfinals of Gerry Weber Open. Although he participated in most of the tournaments in 2002 and 2003, he lost all the matches reaching the quarterfinals and semi finals.

Youzhny continued his career in 2004. During his games at Indian Wells Masters, he reached round four and got defeated with Andre Agassi. However, he won his first title at the St. Petersburg Open. Until 2007 he didn't get a victory in any matches. Well, in 2008 he got the victory at Chennai Open by defeating Rafael Nada in finals. Furthermore, in 2009 he won his another title in Kremlin Cup in Moscow. In 2010, he reached to the world no. 10 ranking.

Until 2013, he didn't win even a single title. Well, since 200 he won his first  ATP Challenger event champion. Coming to 2016, he won three titles in three consecutive weeks in Thailand and the Philippines. He participated in 2017 Aircel Chennai Open and reached only up to quarterfinal.

Personal life

Talking about his personal life, Youzhny is already married. And he is blessed with his happily married life and family life. He married his beloved wife Yulia Youzhnaya in 2008.
