Early Life

A native of Amersfoort, Netherlands, Marco van Ginkel was born on 1st of December 1992, as Wulfert Cornelius van Ginkel to Alex van Ginkel, a Dutch retired professional footballer. Marco’s birth sign is Sagittarius. Regarding his nationality, he is Dutch.

Van Ginkel started his football career with an Arnhem based football club Vitesse at the age of 6 in the year 1999.

Club Career

Vitesse

Following his way through the various youth level at Vitesse, Van Ginkel made his debut for the senior team on 9th April 2010, against RKC Waalwijk in a 4-1 win. He scored the first goal for the club in 2010-11 Eredivisie campaign against Ajax which resulted in a 4-2 win.

Chelsea

On 3rd July 2013, Van Ginkel arrived in the English Premier club Chelsea, signing an agreement of 5-years deal for a fee of $9.06 million. For the club, he made his debut in the opening day of the 2013-14 Premier League season against Hull City. On 18th September, he made his first UEFA Championship League debut against Basel.

Van Ginkel suffered a serious knee injury on 24th September which kept him out of the football for around 7 months.

Loan Spell

On 1st September 2014, Van Ginkel joined the Serie A club Milan on loan deal. He made his debut against Parma on 23rd September.

On 10th July 2015, Van Ginkel was again loaned to Stoke City for the 2015-16 season-long loan deal. He made total 17 appearances for the club before he moved to PSV.

On 1st Jan 2017, Van Ginkel joined PSV on loan for the remainder of the season along with Davy Propper. On 7th February, he made his debut in the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup against Utrecht where he scored his first goal resulting 2-0 victory.

Furthermore, his loan deal was extended for the 2017-18 campaign on 16th July 2017.

International Career

Marco van Ginkel was a part of Netherlands U-15, U-19, and U-21 national team. On 14th November 2012, he made international debut for the Netherlands against Germany in 0-0 friendly draw. So far, he has earned 8 caps for his national side.

Personal Life

Twenty-five years, Van Ginkel is neither married nor single; he is in a relationship with his childhood love Kristie Willems. The two has been dating since 2010. His girlfriend, Kristie Willems is alos originally from the Gelderse Scherpenzeel. Willems is a graduate of Hogeschool Arnhem where she majored in communication, prior to this; she enrolled at Johannes Fontanus College in Barneveld.
