Prior to that, he was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 36th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft but chose to attend the University of Missouri, where he played for the Missouri Tigers baseball team.



For his 2014 season, Gibson was a mainstay in the Twins rotation, contributing 13 wins in 31 starts for Minnesota. His ERA was 4.47, second to Phil Hughes on the starting staff.
