The death of Kobe Bryant has shaken the basketball and whole sporting world. Reports claim that Kobe's daughter Gianna “Gigi” Bryant was also among the victims in the helicopter crash near Calabasas, California on Sunday. There were five more people present.
The Los Angeles Lakers legend was heading towards the Mamba Academy in Thousand Oaks, California, for a basketball practice when the crash occurred. No other family members of Kobe was present in the crash.
The 13-year-old Gianna, like her father Kobe, was aspiring to be a basketball player. She wanted to follow her footsteps. She was on her way to the practice to Mamba Academy for basketball practice, the day the crash occurred. Kobe coached his daughter’s AAU basketball game called “The Mambas.”
Gigi, while Kobe played in the NBA, often attended os Angeles Lakers game and was most recently at the match against the Dallas Mavericks on Dec. 29, 2019.
The second oldest child of Kobe and Vanessa Bryant, Gianna was already a star player at the age of 13. She was born on May 1, 2006, and attended Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles, California, where she played basketball.
Kobe posted a video of her basketball game on January 14 and captioned, "Gigi getting better every day #teammamba #mambacita #fade"
Her father Kobe had also sent several videos of her to Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka, who happened to be Gianna’s godfather.
