Kaitlyn Lawes was introduced to the sport at a young age which was a carrying on family tradition. Lawes followed in the footsteps of her father, Keith Lawes who was an accomplished curler himself, representing Newfoundland in the 1969 Macdonald Brier. She was exposed to curling at the age of 4.
