John Fulkerson is an American college basketball who is a 2021 NBA prospect. He is currently representing the Tennessee Volunteers of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Kingsport, Tennessee native, John Fulkerson was born on 29th April 1997, under the star sign. He is the son of Mike and Ramona Fulkerson. He has one older brother and two younger sisters. The twenty-four years old holds an American nationality and is of white ethnic background. He stands 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m) tall and weighs 219 lb (99 kg).
Fulkerson played his first two years of high school basketball for Dobyns-Bennett High School in his hometown of Kingsport, Tennessee. Later, he was transferred to Christ School in Arden, North Carolina to have more exposure.
During his junior year, he averaged 10 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game. The following season, he averaged 14.5 points, 11.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.5 blocks per game. He broke the Marshall Plumlee's school single-season blocks record with 112.
Also, he earned NCISAA 3-A All-State accolades and was named Carolinas Athletic Association Player of the Year.
Considered a three-star recruit by 247Sports and Rivals, Fulkerson committed to play college basketball for Tennessee on 6th November 2015.
In Fulkerson's first season, he scored 12 points, 10 rebounds, with five blocks in a 69–65 overtime loss to Oregon on 22nd November 2016. On 15th December, he injured his right wrist and dislocated his right elbow which led him to be oit of court for the remainder of the season.
Fulkerson underwent surgery for the injury and was given a medical redshirt.
In his following season, Fulkerson averaged 9.3 minutes per game as a redshirt freshman. In his sophomore season, he was Tennessee's primary frontcourt player off the bench. As a sophomore, he averaged 3.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.
Fulkerson finished the junior season averaging 13.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Further, he was named to the Second Team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) by the league's coaches.
During his senior season, Fulkerson averaged 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
In April 2021, Fulkerson returned for a sixth season, exercising advantage of the NCAA's granting of an additional year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In June 2021, he underwent wrist surgery.
Courtney Brooks is the lovely girlfriend of John Fulkerson. She is an alumna of the University of South Carolina where she was a track and field athelete. She graduated from Cherokee High School.
The two started dating in the fall of 2020. Though Fulkerson is regular with Brooks' picture on his IG, Brooks has shared every bit of it since they are together.
