Early Life

A native of Vats, Norway, Havard Nordtveit was born on 21st of June 1990. His birth sign is Gemini. His father Øyvind Nordtveit is a trainer at Vats 94, local football club, and also has an older brother.

Club Career

Haugesund

In 2006, Havard Nordtveit entered in the youth team of Haugesund. On 1st January 2007, he was promoted to the main squad of Haugesund, signing his ever professional contract. He played total 10 league matches for the club.

Arsenal

On 3rd July 2007, Nordtveit signed a contract with Arsenal for a fee of £2.70 million. There he was given the shirt no. 55. On 14th July 2007, he made his debut in the club first pre-season friendly against Barnet. In 2007-08 FA Premier Reserve League season he played the key role of captain for the reserved team.

Loan

Nordtveit joined Salamanca, signing a 6-month loan deal. He made his Salamanca debut against Sevilla Atletico in a 1-1 drew. However, due playing time issue he was called back to his parent club on 29th October.

On 21st January 2009, Nordtveit made his first appearance for Arsenal reserve team after a loan spell with his previous club, against Stoke City reserve in a 2-2 draw.

On 10th March, he was loaned out again, this time to Norwegian Premier League outfit Lillestrom for 5-month. In club Lillestrom’s season opener he made his debut in the Norwegian Premier League against Stabaek.

Similarly, on 28th July 2009, Nordtveit joined 1. FC Nurnberg, signing a 1-year loan contract. He played a defensive midfield position for Nurnberg.

Borussia Monchengladbach

On 30th December 2010, he signed a 3 and ½ year contract with Borussia Monchengladbach for the fee of £800,000. On 15th January 2011, he made debut for the club in Bundesliga match against Nurnberg. For the club, his first goal came against 1. FC Koln in a 5-1 win. In the club, he was used mostly as a defensive midfielder.

West Ham United

On 1st July 2016, Nordtveit switched to West Ham United, signing a 5-year contract. For the Hammers, he made his debut against NK Domzale in a 2-1 victory in a European League qualifying match.

Hoffenheim

Currently, Nordtveit plays for German side 1899 Hoffenheim wearing the shirt no. 6.

International Career

Havard Nordtveit has represented his nation, Norway in several tournaments in both senior and junior level. He was part of Norway U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19 and U-21 national team.

On 7th June 2011, Nordtveit made his international debut against Lithuania in a friendly match. On 29th February 2012, his scored first international goal against Northern Ireland in a 3-0 victory in a friendly match. His second goal came on 16th November 2014 against Azerbaijan in a 1-0 win in “UEFA Euro 2016 qualification.
