Markus Henriksen is a Norwegian professional football player who currently plays as an attacking midfielder for the Championship club Hull City.

Early Life

Markus Henriksen was born on 25 July 1992, in Trondheim, Norway. He is the son of former Rosenborg player and manager, Trond Henriksen. He began playing football at the age of 9, trained by his own father.

Club Career

Markus Henriksen began his professional footballing since 2009 at the age of 17, joining the Norwegian club Rosenborg. He made his official club debut on 10 May 2009, in a cup game against Gjøvik-Lyn. He slowly established himself as the regular starter for his team. His three successive seasons with the club ended up with a total of 78 appearances and 11 goals.

He then made his move to the Dutch professional club AZ Alkmaar on 31 August 2012, signing to a five-year contract with the club. His debut for the club came in September 2012, in the 4–0 victory against Roda JC. During his 2nd season at the club, he was named as AZ player of the year beating top scorer Jozy Altidore and young sensation Adam Maher. He played for the club for five years, appearing in 108 games and scoring 26 goals.

Henriksen was further sent on a loan to the English professional club Hull City on 31 August 2016, for a year which was further made permanent in 2017. He made his dream debut for the club scoring a winning goal and an assist against Stoke City on 21 September 2016. He has so far scored 1 goal in 15 appearances.

International Career

Markus Henriksen has represented his national team Norway at both junior and senior levels. His international debut came on 12 October 2010, at the age of 18 in a friendly against England. He scored his debut international goal in the 2014 World Cup qualifying match against Slovenia. He has played 35 goals and scored 3 goals for the senior national team.

Personal Life

The 25 years old Markus Henriksen is to his long-term girlfriend in a ceremony that took place in Norway on June 6, 2015. His wife gave birth to their first child Lukas Henriksen on March 16, 2014, a year before their marriage.

Their second son Ludvik Henriksen was born on May 11, 2016. The couple is often spotted together spending their vacations. They were last seen together in Maldives having a good time at the beach.
