George Tawlon Manneh Oppong Ousman Weah or famously known as George Weah is retired Liberian Striker. He has played for several prominent clubs such as AC Milan, Chelsea FC, and Manchester City. He won the FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d'Or in 1995 and is the only African player to achieve the award.
Weah became the 25th president of Liberia in 2018.
George Weah was born on 1st October 1966 to mother, Anna Quayeweah, and father, Willian T Weah in Monrovia in Liberia. He holds a Liberian nationality and belongs to Kru ethnic group.
Weah's father was a mechanic and mother, a seller. He was one of the thirteen children of his parents and was raised by his grandmother after the divorce of his parents.
He attended schools like Muslim Congress school as well as Hairston High School and later attended Parkwood and DeVry University.

Before he was the professional football player he was Switchboard technician.
Weah started his playing career with the youth teams of Young Survivors Claratown and Clara town. He began his senior playing stint with for clubs such as Mighty Barolle, Africa Sports etc.
His impressive play caught the eye of famous football manager, Arsene Wenger who signed with the AS Monaco club in 1988
After a successful stint with AS Monaco, he signed with Paris Saint Germain in 1992 and was the part of the team that went on to win the French league title in 1994. He, later on, moved to Italy and signed with famous Italian Serie A club, AC Milan in 1995. And as part of the team that won the Italian league in 1995.
His performances for the Italian side in the season made him the FIFA World Player of the Year in 1995.

Weah played for Marseille and later at AI Jazira and retired in 2003.
In addition, he represented Liberia in 60 matches and scored 22 goals for his national team before his international retirement in 2003.
Later, he joined Politics in 2005 and ran for presidency campaign teaming with Democratic Change and lost to Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. He ran for Senate in 2014 and has been in office since early 2015.
Weah again ran for presidency campaign in 2017 and was finally became the 25 the President of Liberia in 2018. He was supported by various footballers around the world like Michael Essien during his presidential campaign.
He along with Didier Drogba, Kylian Mbappe recently launched an Africa sports project in France in February 2018.
