Fernando Muslera is an Argentine-born Uruguayan professional football player who plays as a goalkeeper for the Turkish club Galatasaray and the Uruguayan national team.

Early Life

Fernando Muslera was born on 16 June 1986, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His full name is Nestor Fernando Muslera Micol and his parents are Norma Muslera and Hugo Muslera. Club Career

Fernando Muslera began his youth footballing career with Montevideo Wanderers in 2001. He was in the youth team till 2004 and was included in the senior team later in 2004. He remained with Montevideo Wanderers until 2007 making his appearances in total 44 games. Muslera further moved to the Italian club Lazio in 2007. He made his debut for Lazio in a 3–1 home win against Cagliari on 16 September 2007.

Muslera played 97 games for the club being in the club for four years, he gained the first-team experience in the club. He was a regular starter for the club from his second season at the club. He then moved to Turkey agreeing on a four-year contract with the top club Galatasaray on 19 July 2011.

So far Muslera has won several honorary titles with the club. He scored his first career goal, a penalty against Manisaspor on8 April 2012. He made his UEFA Champions League debut in a match against Manchester United at Old Trafford on 19 September 2012. He still plays for the club.

Fernando Muslera is the 1st choice goalkeeper for his national side Uruguay and has represented the team in several competitions including FIFA World Cup. He made his professional debut for his national side on 10 October 2009. He made his World Cup debut on 11 June 2010, against France. So far, he has won over 88 caps for his national side.

Muslera was the key player of the Uruguayan team that won Confederations Cup in 2011. He has also been included in the 23-man squad along with star players like Edinson Cavani, Luis Suarez, Martin Caceres etc for the FIFA World Cup 2018. 

Personal Life

Fernando Muslera is married to Patricia Callero in January 2016. The couple before getting married had been dating for 2 years. He was previously in a relationship with his loving girlfriend Eliana Dide. They had an affair for several years, the couple even lived together in Istanbul.

Dide explained that he had a lot of Turkish girls, Muslera was constantly disturbed by them, but she was not affected when she left.

Muslera also had an affair with Almeda Abazi and was also linked in an affair with Patricia Callero.
