Emmanuel Kabeya Mudiay was born on March 5, 1996, in Kinshasa, Zaire to parents Jean-Paul Mudiay and Therese Kabeya. He grew up along with two brothers, Jean-Micheal Mudiay, and Stephane Mudiay.

Emmanuel Kabeya Mudiay attended Grace Preparatory Academy but later transferred to Prime Prep Academy in Texas where he played for his high school basketball team.  

After graduating High School, he decided to forego college and instead go overseas to play basketball professionally.

Emmanuel Mudiay's Professional Life

Emmanuel Mudiay began his professional debut as a basketball player in 2014. He signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract with the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association on July 22, 2014. He played only 12 games in total and averaged 18.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.

Mudiay was selected by the Denver Nuggets with their seventh overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. He signed a rookie scale contract with the Nuggets on July 31, 2015. He ended his first NBA season with an average of 12.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.0 steals playing in 68 games. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

After two more seasons with the Nuggets, Emmanuel Mudiay was traded to the New York Knicks in exchange for Doug McDermott and a second-round pick on February 8, 2018. At the end of the season, Mudiay had an average stats of 8.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists playing in 22 games.

Mudiay suffered an ankle injury which caused him to miss the start of the 2018-19 season. Mudiay is still in the roster of the Knicks alongside players like Enes Kanter, Frank Ntilikina, Kevin Knox, and Tim Hardaway.
