Dean Evason is a well-known Canadian professional ice hockey coach and a former player. Evason started working as a coach in 1999 and is the coach of the Minnesota Wild in the National Hockey League. Evason was selected by the Washington Capitals in the fifth round (89th overall) of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. 

Dean Evason was born Dean Clement Evason on August 22, 1964, in Flin Flon, Manitoba. Evason rose to fame through his successful career so, much about his parents and early life is under the radar. Evason stands five feet and ten inches tall and weighs 79 kg. 

Dean Evason's Career

Dean started playing Ice Hockey at a very early age. He started his career playing in the BCJHL for the Cowichan Valley Capitals in 1980. The next season, Evason was part of the Spokane Chiefs in the WHL. Evason listed his name for the 1982 NHL draft and Washington Capitals drafted him in the fifth round overall 89th pick. Dean was part of the Canadian junior national team in the 1984 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. 

In 1985, Dean played for the Binghamton Whalers in the American Hockey League. The same year, He moved to Hartford Whalers and played in the National Hockey League. Evason spent his next six seasons with the Whalers in the NHL and appeared in more than 150 games for Hartford. In the 1991/92 season, The Canadian player moved to San Jose Sharks and then played for the franchise for two seasons appearing in 150 games. 

At the end of his career, Dean moved to EV Landshut and player for the 1998/99 season. He completed his playing career playing in 803 games and then scored 139 goals for the team.

Shortly after retiring from games, Evason joined Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League. Kamloops Blazers hired him as their new head coach. In 2002, He moved to Vancouver Giants and worked with the team until 2004. In 2005, the  Capitals announced their new assistant coach as Dean. He worked with the team until 2012 and then moved to Milwaukee Admirals as their head coach. 

Dean worked with the team for six seasons to become the team's second-winningest coach in their history. In 2018, he was hired by the Minnesota Wild as an assistant coach. In July 2020, Minnesota Wild announced Evason as their full-time head coach

Yes, You read that right. Dean is the proud father of three children. Evason is married to his longtime girlfriend, Genevieve. They had a private wedding ceremony. The duo are have welcomed three children, Bryce, Brianne, and Brooke from this happy marriage.
