David Johnson is an American footballer who was born on December 16, 1991, in Memphis, Tennessee. Talking about his nationality, he is an American and he is of black ethnicity. Johnson attended Clinton High School which is located in Clinton, Iowa.

Johnson was a three-sport star in football, track, and basketball while in high school. He played as a running back and defensive back for the River kings which was a high school football team during that time. Johnson set numerous records of the school including touchdowns in a season, career receptions, career receiving yards, career, and single-season total offense and single-game record for touchdowns.

David Johnson led Clinton to an 11-1 record while accounting for a school-record 42 touchdowns as a senior. He was selected as an outstanding offensive player for Clinton in 2009 for his efforts.

Johnson showed an impressive 4,682 rushing yards and 49 rushing touchdowns to go along with 1,734 receiving yards and another 14 receiving scores. He was invited to play at the 2010 Shrine Bowl all-star game, where the player showed excellent vision and speed.

David Johnson College Career

David Johnson attended the University of Northern Iowa to play college football from 2010-2014. He played in 13 games with five starts, as a redshirt freshman in 2011. Johnson had 179 rushes for 822 yards with 9 rushing touchdowns and also had 33 receptions for 422 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson started 7 of 12 games and finished his second year with 1,021 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns.

David Johnson started 10 of 11 games and rushed for 1,286 yards on 222 carries as a junior. He rushed for 1,553 yards on 287 carries with 17 rushing touchdowns as a senior and returned 12 kickoffs for 438 yards and one touchdown.

David Johnson Professional Career

David Johnson was drafted by Arizona Cardinals in the third round of 2015 NFL draft. He signed to a four-year, contract of $2.9 million dollars with a $639,373 signing bonus and $639,373 dollars guaranteed. Johnson opened 2015 season as the fourth string running back behind veterans Andre Ellington, Chris Johnson, and Stephan Taylor. He made his first career start on December 6, 2015. Johnson finished his rookie season having carried 125 times for 581 yards with eight touchdowns.

The 2016 season became a breakout season in his career as he posted 15 straight games with at least 100 yards from scrimmage, matching Lions' Barry Sanders for the longest single-season streak in NFL history. Johnson was named First-team All-pro that year. He was ranked seventh in the NFL for rushing yards. Johnson injured his left knee in the final regular season game of 2016. Johnson plays alongside Larry Fitzgerald and Patrick Peterson.

Johnson later injured his left wrist during the season opener against the Detroit Lions on September 10, 2017. He was placed on an injury reserve as his wrist was dislocated and needed surgery. Johnson did not return for the rest of 2017. He signed a  three year $39 million contract extension with the Cardinals with $30 million guaranteed.
