Career

Started tennis at the age of seven, Kovinic turned professional in 2010. She made her WTA Tour singles tournament debut at the 2013 Budapest Grand Prix, becoming the first Montenegrin to reach the quarterfinals of a WTA event.

In 2015 at Frenc Open and the US Open she had her first singles Grand Slam match wins as well as reached the first singles WTA Tour final at the Tianjin Open. At the 2015 Bad Gastein, she won her career first WTA doubles pairing up with Stephanie Vogt.

In 2016, she won one singles title on ITF Circuit and also reached the second consecutive Top 100 season. The following season, she reached the 2nd round including the Australian Open. 

She started the 2021 season competing at the Australian tout at the Gippsland Trophy where she won against Tamara Zidansket. In the next round, she lost to Jelena Ostapenko.
