Born as Charles Harris Charley Steiner and popularly known by Charley Steiner is an American sportscaster and broadcast Journalist. He is currently working for the Los Angeles Radio Network as the main play-by-play voice with Rick Monday.
Earlier, Charley worked for the world famous television network ESPN as an anchor on SportsCenter. He was born on July 17, 1949, in Malverne, New York, the United States. He is American by his nationality and belongs to white ethnicity and his zodiac sign is Cancer.
EDUCATION AND CAREER
Charley Steiner grew in the New York City area. There he enrolled at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois and commenced his professional broadcasting career with WIRL radio station in 1969 as a newscaster. After that, he shifted to New Haven, Connecticut and worked there as a news director for WAVZ radio before working on KSTT radio in Davenport, Lowa.
Afterward, In 1997 Charley moved to Cleveland where he worked at WERE (1300AM) and WKYC radio station as a sportscaster. He then moved home to New York and Joined on WOR radio as the morning drive sportscaster. He also worked simultaneously for the RKO Radio Network as the sports director. Moreover, he served as the play-by-play for the USFL New Jersey Generals and for the NFL’s New York Jets from 1983 to 1985 and 1986 to 1987 respectively.
In 1988, Charley made his career debut with world popular television network ESPN as an anchor. In that respect, there he worked as a lead announcer for the Sunday night games, the All-Star Game, and post-season games. Charley has also hosted a program for the NFL network.
As of now, he has worked with several radio stations and sports team as well such as New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers. Similarly, he has achieved several awards throughout his career. Some of them are Emmy Award as a best sports anchor, National Radio Hall Of Fame, United Press International award as the best sportscaster for New York, New York State Broadcasters Association Award for best Radio Play-by-Play, and so on.
