He grew up alongside his elder brother,  Juan Pablo, a former footballer who played as a midfielder and completed exclusively in lower league football.

Azpilicueta is a product of CA Osasuna’s youth system, which was joined in 2006.

Club Career


Following his various youth level at Osasuna, Cesar Azpilicueta made his professional and La Liga debut in a 0-2 away defeat against Real Madrid on April 8, 2007.


On June 21, 2010, Azpilicueta arrived at the French club Olympique de Marseille, signing a 4-year contract for $8.25 million. He scored a single goal and made 47 appearances overall for the club.


On August 24, 2012, Azpilicueta signed Chelsea for $9.41 million. At the club, he has nicknamed Dave because his surname was difficult for some English speakers to pronounce.

On September 25, 2012, he made his debut for the club in a 6-0 home victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers in a League Cup Tie. The following week, he made his Premier League debut against Norwich City in a 4-1 win.
