The Early Years 

Bjarnason was born on June 30, 2005, in Carberry, Manitoba, a small town located east of Brandon. During his upbringing, he engaged in hockey with the Southwest Cougars U15 AAA team in the Winnipeg AAA Hockey League.

His performance in the 2018-19 season involved a .883 save percentage and a 3.19 goals-against average across 19 games, while in the 2019-20 season, he achieved a .913 save percentage and a 3.23 goals-against average in 19 games.

Additionally, he participated in two matches for the RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg U16 Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) during the 2020-21 season, achieving a .914 save percentage and a 2.01 goals-against average.

The WHL Highlights 

Bjarnason was selected by the Brandon Wheat Kings in the second round, 28th overall, during the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft. He commenced his WHL career in the 2021-22 season, participating in 23 games and achieving a .882 save percentage and a 4.00 goals-against average. He secured his first WHL win on October 9, 2021, competing against the Winnipeg Ice.

In the 2022-23 season, Bjarnason emerged as the Wheat Kings’ primary goaltender, featuring in 47 games and achieving a .900 save percentage and a 3.08 goals-against average. He secured his first WHL shutout on November 13, 2022, against the Prince Albert Raiders and played a significant role in the team's success, contributing to 21 victories out of 26 games while in goal.

During the 2023-24 season, Bjarnason maintained his impressive form, participating in 14 games and recording a .904 save percentage and a 3.23 goals-against average as of November 22, 2023. The star achieved his second WHL shutout on October 28, 2023, facing off against the Saskatoon Blades.

International Career

Bjarnason represented Canada at the international level as part of the Canada U18 team during the 2022-23 season. In the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, he showcased outstanding performance with a .950 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average in one game, contributing to Canada's gold medal victory.

Furthermore, he participated in the 2023 IIHF World U18 Championship, where he achieved a .849 save percentage and a 3.51 goals-against average across six games, resulting in Canada earning the silver medal. His remarkable performance led to him being honored as the best goaltender of the tournament by the IIHF Directorate.
