Lionel Messi appeared as a club captain in a Spanish Super Cup match against Sevilla on Sunday in Morocco and led the club to the first title as a captain and also the first of the season. Barcelona defeated Sevilla by 2-1 with goals coming from Gerard Pique and Ousmane Dembele.
With the Super Cup win, Messi made yet another record. He overtook the former midfielder Andres Iniesta in the most club titles win at the Catalan club taking the tally to 33. The former Spanish midfielder has won 32 titles with the club.

Sevilla appealed the Spanish football federation ahead of the match as there were more than three non-EU players in Barcelona due to which it was termed as a non-professional match and was played only one leg, unlike the previous years.
The nearest current team members with the close competition in titles won are Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique both having 28 trophies in the list.
