As a kid growing up, he always had a hope of someday playing in college and attended St. Augustine Preparatory School in new jersey.
In his senior year, he won all-state accolades but soon moved to play football after his coach convinced him to try out. Subsequently, he was recruited by Penn State under coach Larry Johnson.
