Asante Samuel Jr. is an American football cornerback who used to play college football for the Florida State Seminoles football team. He was recently drafted as the 47th overall pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2021 NFL Draft. Furthermore, he has also earned fame as the son of Asante Samuel, a four-time NFL Pro Bowl cornerback.
Born in 1999, Asante Samuel Junior celebrates his birthday on the 3rd of October every year. As of now, he is 21 years old. Likewise, he hails from the suburbs of Tallahassee, Florida. His father’s name is Asante Samuel. However, not that much is known about his biological mother as his mother is his father's former girlfriend.
As for his education, Samuel Jr. first attended the Fort Lauderdale-based high school named St. Thomas Aquinas. After his graduation, he enrolled at the Florida State University for his higher education.
The 21-year-old NFL rookie initiated his career playing football for the St. Thomas Aquinas High School football team. During his time there, he was able to help his team reach the state semifinals in 2017 and win the 7A state titles in his sophomore and junior year.
By the time he graduated, he was ranked a four-star recruit, ranked No. 25 overall by ESPN, and named an Under Armour All-American. Following his graduation, he chose Florida State University over other colleges and began playing for its football team, Florida State Seminoles.
In his freshman year, he played in a total of 12 games and managed to record nine pass breakups and 17 tackles including 1 for loss. His performance led him to tie for third among ACC freshmen. In the sophomore year, his performance further improved as he tallied 14 pass breakups, 48 tackles, and 1 interception in 12 games.
For his amazing performance, he was named to the third-team All-ACC team. In his junior year, Samuel Jr. played in 8 games and recorded 6 pass breakups, 31 tackles, 3 interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. He was named to the first-team All-ACC team for his performance.
After collecting such good stats, he declared himself for the 2021 NFL Draft. When the draft happened, he was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers as the 47th overall pick in the second round.
The former Florida State Seminoles cornerback’s net worth is still under review.
