A Chinese professional footballer, Yang Xu currently plays as a striker for China national team and Liaoning Whowin on a loan from Tianjin Quanjian. The 29 years old footballer played for clubs like Dalian Yiteng, Changchun Yatai.
Yang Xu was born on February 12, 1988, in Dalian, Liaoning, China. Born in a Chinese family, he holds a Chinese nationality and belongs to Han ethnicity.
At the age of 13, Yang Xu began his football career joining his hometown club, Dalian Yiteng in 2001. After a year, he joined another youth team Liaoning Whowin in 2003 and made his senior debut in 2005 against Shanghai Shenhua.
Yang Xu then scored his first goal against Shenzhen Jianlibao. In 2008, he succeeded to establish himself as a starter striker within the team and was able to become the second best goalscorer of the 2009 league season.
Later, Yang Xu was transferred to Shandong Luneng in 2013. The same year, he was loaned to Changchun Yatai. For the club, he played in over 10 matches and scored two goals. Thereafter, Xu signed a new contract with a Chinese football club, Tianjin Quanjian F.C. on February 26, 2016, and was immediately loaned to his former club, Liaoning Whowin. He has so far appeared in 9 matches and is expected to return back from the loan the next season.
Yang Xu has represented his national side China both at junior and senior levels. He represented China U-17 team in international games and was called up to the Chinese national team. He made his professional debut and scored his international goal against Vietnam in 2010 in an AFC Asia Cup qualifying match.
To this date, Xu has earned 47 caps and scored 22 goals for his national team. He represented his national team in 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualifier, Friendly International with Latvia, Estonia, Honduras, 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier, and 2018 World Cup qualifier. Since 2009, Yang Xu plays alongside another Chinese player like Yan Junling, Cai Huikang, We Lei, and Wu Xi etc.
