Yan Couto was born in Curitiba, Brazil, on June 3, 2002, and the passion for football would blossom early. He joined Coritiba's youth academy at just ten years old and immediately made a name for himself. His professional debut came on February 21, 2020, in a Campeonato Paranaense match, showcasing his talent.
And with his great performances, he managed to make it into the "Next Generation 2019" list of The Guardian, which highlighted him as one of the world's top young talents.
On 1 March 2020, Couto signed a five-year deal with Manchester City, which officially began on 1 July 2020. He was then loaned out straightaway to Girona in Spain's Segunda División and had adapted well to impress in his first season.
Following a loan spell to SC Braga of Portugal, he moved back to Girona and turned out to be an important member of the team, dazzling audiences with his attacking prowess from the back.

In August 2024, Couto moved to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the season 2024-2025, with the buy option included. The move into the Bundesliga is, of course, a great chance to shine in a larger arena.
His recent engagement with Girona saw him among the most effective defenders in La Liga this season, with eight assists in the 2023-2024 season.
Yan Couto is dating Nath Gomes. Although he is one of those who keep his personal life short, his relationship has come into the limelight as he is growing in the football arena.
While Couto works on his career, his love life with Nath seems to be a plus for him, helping him through life's struggles in professional football.
Couto has represented Brazil at youth levels, starting with one of the members that won the U-17 FIFA World Cup back in 2019. On the 6th of October, he made his senior debut as a professional in the qualifiers of the World Cup 2026.
Interestingly, he dyed his vibrant pink-colored hair to its natural color upon the request of his national team, because unity means a lot.
Comparisons have been drawn with the great Brazilian full-backs, with Couto possessing that rare combination of speed, technical skill, and offensive contribution much like Cafu and Roberto Carlos. Overlapping runs that show no signs of fear and precise, pinpoint crosses ensure that he is a bundle of energy on the pitch.
And as he grows further, the world of football is in anticipation to see if this kid turns out to be another Brazilian ace to make a lasting legacy in the beautiful game.
