Lakhin flashed his future potential on the international stage in the FIBA Under-18 European Championship of 2019, leading Russia to a respectable sixth-place finish with averages of 9.8 points and 7.0 rebounds.
The road to the NCAA has not been entirely smooth in Lakhin's career. Joining the Cincinnati Bearcats, an injury then laid him off during the 2020-2021 season.
