Britney Spears has come forward to refute allegations that she forcefully grabbed San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama from behind, clarifying that she simply "tapped" him on the shoulder. Moreover, Spears claims that Wembanyama's security guard reacted by striking her in the face.
The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday evening at a restaurant in Las Vegas. Spears explains that upon spotting Wembanyama, Spears wished to extend her congratulations for his achievements. Britney asserts that she lightly tapped him on the shoulder to grab his attention, but his security guard immediately intervened and forcefully pushed her away. According to her, she was then struck in the face, causing her glasses to fall off.
Wembanyama provides a different account of the incident. Victor states that while entering the restaurant he felt someone grab him from behind. Turning around, he discovered Spears, whom the athlete did not recognize.
Wembanyama recalls that Britney promptly apologized before walking away. Spears promptly filed a police report after the incident, and law enforcement is currently investigating the matter. In an Instagram statement, Spears expressed her embarrassment regarding the incident and mentioned that she is yet to receive a public apology from Wembanyama, his security guard, or the Spurs organization.
Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph expressed his strong disapproval of the treatment that Britney received, stating that he is appalled by the incident. Rudolph emphasizes that Spears is a kind-hearted individual who would never intentionally harm anyone, reiterating that her intentions were merely to offer respect and congratulations to Victor Wembanyama for his success.
