Victor Martinez was born on July 29, 1973, in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic. He holds a nationality of Dominican and belongs to Spanish ethnical background.
Victor appeared in competitive sports from his early age before shifting to the USA from his hometown. In the USA, he played numbers of sports such as football, baseball throughout his teens. However, later he decided to choose weightlifting as his professions.
Victor Martinez first began his career with training from the local gym club. After being well trained, he contended in National Physique Committee (NPC) where he stood the 1st place in the NPC Junior USA Heavyweight Championship and NPC Nationals Heavyweight tournament in 2000. Prior to that, in 1993, Victor has also debuted his bodybuilding competition by which he came into the spotlight to the audience all over the world.

Victor first IFBB tournament was Night of Champions where he stood the position of eighth. Similarly, in 2002, he made his first Arnold Classic Championship appearance and placed at 13th position. Afterward, in 2003, he won the Night of Champions, which was his first win before stepping to his professional bodybuilding career.
Victor has participated in numbers of professional competition and achieved several awards throughout his career such as IFBB GNC Show of Strength Pro Championship, Arnold Classic, IFBB Toronto Pro Supershow, and so on. He also became Mr. Olympia in 2007-which is now held by Phil Heath.
