Saúl Ñíguez Esclápez or famously known as  Saul Niguez is a Spanish professional football player who plays as a center as well as a defensive midfielder for Spanish football club, Atletico Madrid.

Besides playing for Atletico Madrid he also has played for the fellow Spanish club, Rayo Vallecano and has also Spain in their youth teams.

He made his senior international full debut for Spain in 2016 and has been named to the final squad for 2018 World Cup.

He played at the reserve team of Atletico Madrid from 2010 to 2013 and made his senior debut in the 2010/11 and scored his first goal against Extremadura UD on 10 April 2011.

Niguez later joined the main team and made his debut against Besiktas JK in a UEFA Europa League.

He later made his official La Liga debut against Sevilla FC on 21 April 2013. With the Atletico Madrid, he was able to win the UEFA Europa League in 2011/12 and 2017/18. He scored a crucial Madrid derby goal replacing Koke in 2015.

Niguez was later loaned to fellow Spanish football club, Rayo Vallecano as a part of the deal. He later signed a nine-year contract deal on the early July 2017.

He represented Spain in their Under 16, Under 17, Under 18, Under 19, Under 20 and Under 21 teams.

Niguez was later called up to senior Spanish Squad against a friendly against Costa Rica and UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers against Belarus and was cut alongside Isco. He was the part of the successful Spanish Under-19 that went on to win the UEFA European Under-19 Championship held in 2012 at Estonia.

The Spanish midfielder made his senior debut for Spanish national team against Belgium and was later selected by the Spanish manager, Julen Lopetegui for FIFA World Cup 2018 to be held in Russia.

Currently, 23, he stands at a height of 5 feet 11 inches and weighs around 70 kg. The Spanish international midfielder is currently in a relationship with his girlfriend, Yaiza.

Yaiza is currently 22 years old. Saul posted a photo of her on her 21st birthday last year and captioned:
