Stevenson enrolled at  Centennial High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was the Las Vegas Sun High School Player of the Year in 2015 as a junior. 

Further, he played two seasons at Cerritos College and then transferred to the University of Oklahoma.

During his first season at Oklahoma, he played in the first 13 games and then was suspended for the 2019 Peach Bowl. He concluded that season (2019), with 515 yards on 64 carries with six touchdowns. He made his come back from the suspension six games into the 2020 season. After rushing for 186 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, Stevenson was named the MVP of the 2020 Cotton Bowl.

In the 2021 NFL Draft, Stevenson was picked by the  New England Patriots in the fourth round, 120th overall. On 19th May 2021, he agreed on a four-year rookie contract with New England.
