Charley Hoffman is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He was an honorable mention All-American during his college years.

He became a professional golfer in the year 2000 and has so far won four PGA tours.

Early Life of Charley Hoffman

Charley Lindley Hoffman was born on December 27, 1976, in San Diego, California to parents Ernie and Liz Hoffman. He attended Poway High School and was the winner of California state high school champions in 1994 and 1995 becoming the first two-time winner.

For further education, he enrolled at the University of Nevada. During his collegiate career as a golfer, he was a member of the 1998 championship team of his university. His teammates included Chris Riley, Chad Campbell, Bill Lunde, and Adam Scott. He became an honorable mention All-American in 1998. Hoffman graduated in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in communications.

Professional Life of Charley Hoffman

After graduation, Charley Hoffman immediately turned pro. The rookie season of his professional play was a struggle for Hoffman with him only making four of 19 cuts on the Buy.com Tour in 2000. He achieved a better result the following year, making 12 of 23 cuts and finishing in the top-10 position.

In the 2004 Nationwide Tour, Charley Hoffman won his professional event at the Permian Basin Charity Golf Classics. He made 13 of 15 cuts during the year and was able to record two top-10 finishes and 10 top-25 finishes. Hoffman made 18 out of 26 cuts in 2005 with a runner-up finish, 8 top-10s, and 12 top-25 finishes. He was able to earn a PGA Tour Card for 2006. That year, he was able to win the 2005 Straight Down Fall Classic with Ed Cuff Jr.

Hoffman was able to win 21 out of 29 cuts during the 2006 season. He made his first major debut in the 2006 U.S. Open, where he finished in 46th position. His first event win at the PGA was at the 2007 season in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in January. He defeated John Rollins to claim the victory. With the win, he was able to climb to the top 100 of the official World Golf Rankings.

Charley Hoffman's second PGA Tour event win came in 2010 at the Deutsche Bank Championship. He claimed the 25th spot on the money list with his victory. Hoffman's third career PGA Tour win came on November 16, 2014, winning the OHL Classic. Defeating Shawn Stefani, he was able to claim the prize money of $1.098 million. That year, he was able to finish 9th at the Masters Tournament which is his best finish to date witb.

For his fourth PGA Tour, Hoffman won the Valero Texas Open in April 2016. Swinging a 3-under-par 69 in the final round, he defeated Patrick Reed by a single stroke. In the 2017 Master, he finished the competition with a T-22 finish. He was named a captain's pick for the 2017 Presidents Cup.

Charley Hoffman married Stacy Vasil in 2009. Stacy was his high school girlfriend and he has been together with her for a long time. He has two daughters; Claire and Katelynn of his marriage. His wife works in public relations and is the one that helped Hoffman to launch his own foundation.
