Oliver Bearman was born on May 8, 2005, in Havering, London, and grew up in Chelmsford, England. He started karting competitively at age seven. He attended King Edward VI Grammar School but dropped out at age 16 to focus on racing by joining the Ferrari Driver Academy. His father, David Bearman, was a club racer, and his younger brother, Thomas, is also a kart racer. Apart from racing, Oliver enjoys outdoor sports and supports animal rights.

Karting and Junior Formula Career

Oliver had a successful karting career, winning a series of continental and national titles. He made the transition to car racing in 2020, competing in the Italian and ADAC Formula 4 with US Racing.

In 2021, with Van Amersfoort, he won the Italian and ADAC Formula 4 Championships, the first to do so in one season. He also picked up experience in GB3 and the Formula Regional Asian Championships.

Formula 3 and Formula 2 Career

Bearman stepped up to FIA Formula 3 with Prema Racing in 2022 and was third in the championship with eight podiums and a win. He stepped up to FIA Formula 2 in 2023 again with Prema, where he was sixth in the championship with six wins, including a double in Azerbaijan. He stayed in Formula 2 in 2024 to further develop his skills.

Formula One Career

Oliver was approached by the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2022 and started testing F1 cars by late 2023. He made his Formula One racing debut in 2024 at the Saudi Arabian GP, substituting for Carlos Sainz Jr., where he finished seventh and set the record as the youngest-ever race driver for Ferrari.

He substituted for Kevin Magnussen at two more races that year. He drove FP1 sessions for Haas in 2023 and was approached with a multi-year contract to drive full-time for Haas from 2025.

Awards and Recognition

Bearman was given the Henry Surtees Award in 2021 for his potential and talent. His quick rise through junior ranks and excellent performances in F3 and F2 have made him one of the most promising young drivers in motorsport.
