Matthew Francis Szczur, known by his pen name Matt Szczur, is an American professional baseball outfielder. He currently plays for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for Chicago Cubs from 2014 to 2017 having debuted in MLB in 2014.

He was also a member of Football and Baseball team at Villanova University.

Matt Szczur was born on 20th July 1989 in Cape May, NJ with the zodiac sign of Cancer. Son of a Marc and Kathleen, he and his older sibling, Marc were naturals at sports according to their father.

At the University, Szczur played as a wide receiver, running back, wildcat quarter. He was the member of the team that won 2009 NCAA Division I FCS football season National Championship Game and led the team to capture their first NCAA Football Championship.

During his college career, he has been honored with Consensus All-American and 2009 CAA Offensive Player of the Year.

Szczur was signed by Chicago Cubs organization where he received a $100,000 signing bonus, with an additional $500,000 if he declined to attend the NFL combine. He later made a written commitment to baseball before February 10, 2011.

Szczur started to baseball after signing $1.5 million deal in January 2011 after the 2010 Season. His first major league match came in 2014 with the Cubs.

He hit his first Major League grand slam against Atlanta Braves on April 29, 2016. During his 2016 seasons, he appeared in 107 games batting 259 with five home runs and 24 RBI. Along with his team, he was awarded 2016 World Series Champion.

On May 8, 2017, Szczur was traded to an American professional baseball, San Diego Padres for RHP Justin Hancock.

Szuzur currently plays alongside Eric Hosmer, who has a net worth of $8 million. Eric Hosmer plays as a first baseman for the team. He recently agreed to the 8-year, $144 million deal with the Padres and became the highest paid player in the history of the team.

Personal Life of Matt Szczur

Szczur donated bone marrow to a 15-month-old leukemia patient, Anastasia in Ukraine in 2009. He had never met the girl. Later in 2013, he talked to the girl and her parents through Skype which was covered in E:60 Risking it All, which aired on ESPN's E:60.

Matt Szczur is married to his wife, Natalie Szuzur on November 21, 2014, after dating for a couple of years. Their marriage ceremony was held in a beautiful church ceremony in Old City, Philadelphia in presence of his family members and closest friends.
