Club Career

Matias Vecino began his footballing career in 2010, joining the Uruguayan club Central Espanol. He made his professional club debut in 2011, representing the same club; he was in the club for a year, appearing in 32 games and scoring two goals. He moved to the Italian club Florentina in January 2013, signing a four-year contract.

He made his professional debut in Serie A on September 26, 2013, in a 2–1 away defeat against Internazionale. After playing 58 games for the club, he was sent on loan to fellow Serie A side Cagliari until the end of the season. He played nine games for the club, scoring two goals and leaving for another loan transfer to Empoli in 2014. 

He played 36 games for the club and scored four goals. He then moved to the Internazionale on July 31, 2017. He was given jersey number 11 and made his competitive debut on August 20 in the opening Serie match against his former club. 

International Career

Vecino has experience playing for his national side at both junior and senior levels in international levels. He represented the Uruguay national under-20 football team in the 2011 South American Youth Championship and the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
