Kim Chang-Soo is a Korean professional footballer who currently plays for a South Korean club Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and South Korean national team. Kim plays as a defender. He was a part of the South Korean national team which won the bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Early Life

Born on 12 September 1985 in South Jeolla, South Korea Kim received his formal education from a local school in his hometown, Yeosu, South Jeolla. Kim was interested in pursuing the career as a footballer since his early years. At the age of 19, Kim began playing football as a professional.

Career

Kim started his professional career with a K League 1 club Ulsan Hyundai in 2004, where he played just a single season. He made a single League appearance for the club. In 2005, Kim signed with Daejeon Citizen, a K Leauge 1 club. He made a total of 36 appearances for the Citizen in three season, where he managed to score only once.

In 2008, Kim joined another K League 1 club Busan I'Park and played with the club for five seasons. He made 158 appearances, scoring 7 times. In 2013, Kim played for J1 League club Kashiwa Reysol and made 15 appearances.

Kim currently plays for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors F.C.

International Career

Kim played for South Korea U-23 from 2006 to 2-12. He has 23 caps for the U-23 with a single goal. While playing for U-23, Kim was added to the South Korea senior team.

Kim made his national debut on 1 February 2009, in a match against Syria national football team. He was also a part of the national team to win a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He appeared in two of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Kim was selected to the 23-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil but was succeed by right fullback Lee Young.

In May 2018, he was selected in the South Korean preliminary squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
