Early Life

Julian Weigl was born on September 8, 1995, in Bad Aibling, Germany. His father Hans Weigl is a former football player. He also has a sister named Janina Weigl. He belongs to white ethnicity and holds a Germany nationality.

Weigl got into football due to his father as he often used to go see his father play and would practice himself.

At the age of 6, Julian Weigl began his football career joining youth team of SV Ostermunchen in 2001. He also played for many youth clubs like 1860 Rosenheim and 1860 Munich.

Club Career

Julian Weigl joined 1860 Munich II in 2013 and made his debut against Ingolstadt in February 2014.  The following year, he became the captain at the age of 18 and was the youngest captain in the history of 1860 Munich.

Later, Weigl was fined and disqualified along with his teammates, Vitus Eicher, Daniel Adlung, and Yannick Stark for talking negatively about the club and drinking late at night. Weigl was then transferred to Borussia Dortmund in 2015 and made his debut against Borussia Monchengladbach, on August 2015. Later, he signed a new contract with the team until 2021.

He was injured in a match against FC Augsburg in May 2017. He has so far scored 1 goal in 65 games for the club.

Along with this team, Weigl won the DFB-Pokal (2016-17). He was honored with Facebook FA Bundesliga New Comer of the year in 2016.

International Career

Julian Weigl began his youth career with the Germany U-19 and then played for Germany U-20 and U-21. After playing for three years in a junior team, he was called up to Germany national team in 2016. He has won 5 caps for his national team.

Julian Weigl is in a love with his girlfriend, Sarah Richmond since 2011. His beautiful girlfriend is a student of radio and journalism at the Dortmund Media Academy. She mentions her dog Mason as her favorite behind her boyfriend Weigl.
