The former La Liga player totals 221 games and 92 goals over the course of eight seasons in his club career for Valencia and Barcelona. Argentine-born Pizzi represented the Spanish national team for four years, appearing once in World Cup and European Championship. He has a Copa América Centenario win as a coach for Chile in 2016.
International Pizzi appeared in total 22 caps for Spain scoring eight goals, debuting in Spanish international team on 30th November 1994 in a 2–0 friendly win with Finland.
Afterward, on 20 September, he helped Spain beat his birth country Argentina with 2–1 in an exhibition in Madrid.
Pizzi appeared in UEFA Euro 1996 and 1998 FIFA World Cup from Spanish side and was later replaced by Fernando Morientes after a 0-0 draw with Paraguay, he retired after that season.
