Johnny Eduardo at BVF 6 - Campeonato Brasileiro de Vale Tudo 1,  fought against Wander Braga via Submission (rear-naked choke) in round 1.  After his first-ever pro-loss, Eduardo fought against Paulo Arum in  Itajuba Freestyle Open and was able to record his first-ever pro-victory on 5th April 1997 via Submission (heel hook) in round 1.

Additionally, on 5-Oct-97, he fought against Claudionor Silva at Itajuba Freestyle Open and won the match via Decision (unanimous) in round 2. Again in Itajuba Freestyle Open, he fought against Douglas Nascimento, won the match held on 5-Apr-97 via Submission (ankle lock) in the third round.
