Jérôme Boateng is a German professional football player who currently plays as a defender for the Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and German national football team. Early Life

Jérôme Boateng was born as Jérôme Agyenim Boateng on 3 September 1988. He was born to an Afro-German parent Martina Boating and Prince Boating in West Berlin, Germany. Talking about his nationality, he holds a German citizenship. He began playing football at the age of eight, joining the youth Academy of Bayern Munich.

Club Career

Jérôme Boateng began his professional football career in 2006, Joining the German professional club Hertha BSC. He made his professional Bundesliga debut on 31 January 2007, in a match against Hannover 96.

His only season with the club ended up with10 appearances without scoring a goal. He then moved to league's fellow club Hamburger SV on 22 August 2007. He spent two successful years at Hamburg, where he was one of the most important team members. He appeared in the club for 70 games without scoring a goal.

He further moved to England joining the Premier League's side Manchester City on 5 June 2010, signing on a five-year deal, where he wore his favorite 17 number's jersey. He made his Premier League debut on 25 September 2010, in a match against Chelsea.

His only season with the club ended up with 16 appearances without taking a goal. Later he joined to his home joining one of the German's top team, Bayern Munich. The move was officially completed on 14 July 2011, signing to a four-year contract. He made his club debut on 27 July 2011, during the 2011 Audi Cup in a match against Milan. He still plays as the club's regular starter.

International Career

Jérôme Boateng represented his national side Germany at both junior and senior levels. He made his senior national team debut on 10 October 2009 against Russia, becoming the first German international to sent off on his debut. He was the regular starter for the German team that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup along with Thomas Müller and team. He won over 68 caps for his national side scoring a goal.

Personal Life

Jérôme Boateng is neither married nor single; he is in a relationship with his longterm caring girlfriend,  Sherin Senler. Though the couple had a break up due to some reasons, the couple is still together and living happily.

They had children at a young age, Soley and Lamia, twins born on 8 March 2011. The couple is soon planning to tie their knots. He is an Afro-German and his paternal half-brother Kevin-Prince Boateng is also a professional football player who plays forward for Ac. Milan and the Ghanaian national football team.
